Why India Must Talk About Child Sexual Abuse

In India, childhood sexual abuse is rampant. Every child has a story. An uncle or an auntie would come and inappropriately touch them. Every kid, every adult I have spoken to has one person that they know of. In India, there is a big culture that you kiss your uncle, hug your aunt, shake hands. We don't teach autonomy to children. So this is what we can start with. Only if someone's genitals are not touched badly. There are other ways to touch badly. You can touch someone's back badly. How is that making you feel? And if we can start there, that's a great starting point for very young children.
