Episode: India's Secret Warrior | The Untold Story of NSG Commando Lucky Bisht
About Lucky Bisht
Hey guys, this one is really close to my heart.
Lucky Bisht is no ordinary commando. At just 16, he was recruited into RAW—India's Research and Analysis Wing—and went on to complete elite espionage and sniper training in Israel over two-and-a-half years. He served as a personal bodyguard to multiple Prime Ministers and Chief Ministers, was part of the security detail for President Obama's 2010 India visit, and spent years operating across multiple countries in black ops missions that he still can't talk about. The guy has served in the Indian Army, Special Forces, Assam Rifles, and as a commando in the NSG's Special Ranger Group (SRG)—protecting India's highest-level VVIPs. In 2009, he was honored as Best Commando for his exceptional field performance.
But here's what I wanted to explore: what does it cost? What does it cost to be one of the most elite, most trusted, most invisible warriors our country has? Lucky walked into my studio, and I felt this quiet intensity—a contained power beneath the surface. What got me was the vulnerability.
I will never forget when he started talking about missing his kids' school plays. Here's a man who spent decades making split-second decisions that saved lives, who fought in operations most of us will never know about, and yet what moved him to tears was the simple heartbreak of a dad who couldn't be there. That disconnection between extreme courage and everyday loss—it shattered me.
Here's why I brought Lucky on: because you, building your life right now, need to understand that courage isn't about being fearless. It's about being scared, making the sacrifice anyway, and then dealing with the invisible cost. Whether you're choosing between ambition and family, chasing a dream that demands everything, or watching people you love make those trades—Lucky's story shows you what that actually looks like when you don't sugarcoat it.
What blew my mind: the way he talked about compartmentalization. The secrets you can't share with family, the nightmares that follow you home, the part of yourself you have to lock away to keep your loved ones safe. He didn't come for pity. He came to help us understand that the strongest people among us are also the most human.
This episode matters because it redefines what courage really means—not as fearlessness, but as sacrifice made with full knowledge of the cost. Trust me on this one. — Divya
