About Dr. Sid Warrier
Okay so I have to tell you about this conversation.
Dr. Siddharth Warrier is a Mumbai-based neurologist and science communicator with an MBBS from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (2005-2011), an MD in General Medicine (2012-2015), and a DM in Neurology from Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (2016-2019). He holds MRCP UK from London. He's worked as Senior Resident at SGPGIMS, is a Consultant Neurologist at Namaha Healthcare since 2021, and runs his own neurology consultancy since 2020. His poem "Limbic Love" won the international Hippocrates Medical Poetry Award in 2019. He's dedicated his career to making neuroscience accessible to mainstream audiences through content creation, destigmatizing mental health, and facilitating conversations on behavior change, mindfulness, and learning.
When he started talking about what chronic stress does to your brain—cortisol impairs memory centers, shrinks them, enlarges fear centers—I realized I've been destroying my brain without knowing it. But then he explained the beautiful part: the brain is plastic. It can rewire itself. That hope changed everything.
I brought him on because you're all stressed out, not sleeping, scrolling dopamine hits constantly, and you think that's just how it is. Dr. Sid shows you it's literally reshaping your brain. But that also means you can deliberately reshape it back.
What absolutely blew my mind: he translated neuroscience into practical interventions. Sleep matters because your glymphatic system clears waste. Exercise works because it increases BDNF and blood flow. Meditation changes your brain because it increases gray matter in the prefrontal cortex and decreases amygdala reactivity. These practices aren't just good ideas. They're prescriptions backed by actual brain science.
Here's what got me: neuroplasticity. Your brain's ability to rewire itself throughout your life. That destroyed the myth that you're stuck with your current abilities or emotional patterns. Every practice, every thought, every experience literally rewires neural circuitry. You're not fixed. You can deliberately reshape your brain. A neurologist trained at one of India's premier neuroscience institutes knows the actual architecture of this.
You need this because mental health isn't a character issue. Depression is dysregulated neurotransmitters. Anxiety is amygdala hyperactivation. Trauma is altered brain circuitry that can heal. That reframe removes shame and opens actual pathways to help. Your brain health is built through sleep, exercise, nutrition, stress management, meditation, connection. Not single solutions. Systems.
This one changed something in me. I hope it does the same for you. — Love, Divya
