Episode: Dark Side Of Female Infanticide, Child Abortion, S@x Education & Gender Equality - Dr. Aruna Kalra
About Dr. Aruna Kalra
I brought Dr. Aruna on because I needed someone to talk about the conversations we avoid. Female infanticide. Reproductive autonomy. Sex education. Real things that are happening right now. And I needed someone with the authority to speak about them—not a commentator, but someone who deals with the human cost daily.
Dr. Aruna is a senior gynecologist and obstetrician with over 25 years of clinical experience, which is a significant portion of modern India's medical history. She completed her MBBS from Baba Raghavdas Medical College and her MD in Obstetrics & Gynecology from Kasturba Medical College. She's now the Director and Senior Consultant in Gynecology & Obstetrics at CK Birla Hospital Gurgaon and Managing Director of The Mums Clinic. But those credentials only matter because they allow her to practice at the highest level: she specializes in advanced gynecological surgeries—endometriosis management, fibroid treatment, robotic-assisted hysterectomies, high-risk pregnancies, vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC). She's built a clinical practice focused on minimally invasive, woman-centered care in a field where many practitioners still prioritize convenience over patient outcomes.
Why I brought her on: If you're a young woman building your life, your body's rights and your reproductive choices matter more than anyone's comfort with discussing them. Dr. Aruna practices medicine in India—she sees women in impossible situations, made impossible by systems that treat daughters as liabilities and reproductive choice as scandal. That perspective matters to you because it's grounded in real cases, real trauma, and real solutions.
What blew my mind: She didn't soften anything or apologize for the topic. When she talked about her patients—women trapped by dowry systems, by poverty, by coercion—she did it with compassion but without sugar-coating. She made me understand that to actually help, you have to understand why women make the choices they do, not just judge them. And her point on sex education? That inadequate information leaves *you* vulnerable, not safe. That when girls don't know how their own bodies work, they can't protect themselves. That landed hard because it's true and it's preventable.
Why you need this: Because your body is yours. Your reproductive choices, your autonomy, your questions about sex and health—these aren't scandals. They're rights. And having access to real information from someone like Dr. Aruna—someone with 25 years of experience and a focus on woman-centered care—isn't a Western import; it's foundational to your freedom, your safety, and your equality. She's spent her entire career proving that you deserve both medical excellence *and* respect.
