Episode: Inside the TAJ Hotel During 26/11

About Praveen Teotia

You know those episodes that leave you speechless? This is one.

Praveen Kumar Teotia is a former MARCOS (Marine Commando) of the Indian Navy who was part of the two-team assault on the Taj Hotel during the 26/11 Mumbai siege. On that night, he took five bullets—one that damaged his right lung, another that clipped his ear—during a 30-minute firefight with four terrorists, personally injuring one who died from his gunshots. Despite those near-fatal injuries, he saved approximately 150 civilians trapped in a nearby hall. He was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his valor. After the attack, Teotia became India's first disabled professional Ironman Triathlon runner, completing multiple Ironman titles while living with permanent lung damage. His story isn't just about 26/11—it's about what a human body and spirit can endure.

He didn't come on my podcast to be celebrated as a hero. He came to translate what he learned into something useful for you. That shift in his presence was immediate.

I brought him on because you need to understand what real purpose looks like. Praveen explained that purpose is survival medicine. Soldiers with clear purpose—understanding why their mission matters—can endure impossible hardship. But someone just chasing comfort crumbles at the first setback. I realized I'd been purposeless in areas of my life, and that lack of purpose made me fragile. Just having that framework shifted everything.

What blew my mind: a man trained to be lethal talked mostly about restraint. He said true strength isn't just the capacity to harm—it's the capacity to harm but choosing not to. He operated within the strictest ethical boundaries, choosing proportion and wisdom over raw power. In a world that celebrates dominance, hearing genuine power talk about restraint felt revolutionary.

Here's why you need this: the principles he teaches aren't military skills. They're life skills. Leadership, teamwork, preparation, composure under pressure. Whether you're building a startup, navigating relationships, or facing your own breaking point—Praveen shows you how to operate with clarity and integrity.

The person you need to become isn't about more power or more status. It's about more clarity, more integrity, and more willingness to lead. Go watch this, you'll thank me later. — D
